Welcome to Rez Woman.
This space is grounded in Treaty, guided by truth, and rooted in who I am—a Cree woman who was raised on Duncan’s First Nation, a small reserve in Northern Alberta shaped by the Indian Act and the Chief and Council system.
I created Rez Woman to share my story. These are real memories of growing up on the rez, finding my way into leadership, standing up to injustice, and choosing healing—every single day. Not just for me, but for my sons, and for the generations still to come.
Here, I reflect on identity, culture, loss, resistance, and renewal. It’s raw, it’s personal, and it’s mine. This is where my voice meets my vision—and where my journey home begins with truth.
This is reclamation.
This is legacy.
This is my story—shared with love, pride, and purpose.
I’m a proud Nêhiyawak "Rez Woman". And I’m just getting started.

About Rez Woman
I’m a Cree woman who grew up on Duncan’s First Nation in Northern Alberta. Raised by my grandparents, shaped by the land, and deeply impacted by the Indian Act and band politics, my story is one of survival, resistance, and reclamation.
Rez Woman is where I speak my truth—about growing up on the rez, breaking cycles, stepping into education, and doing the hard work for myself, my sons, and the ones still to come.
This space is personal, honest, and rooted in lived experience. If you want to know more about where I come from and why I’m sharing these stories, head over to my full story on the About page.
